Sunday, April 13th
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” - 1 Corinthians 10:26
For Green Sunday we had about ten students here. It was a really cool night! First we had a bible study and talked about how we are keepers of God’s kingdom and we are called to love everything from a slug to a Sequoya as our neighbors. After that we did a “take pride in your outside” and cleaned up all the little pieces of trash that get blown all over our property. Next we went inside and talked about recycling and suggested ways to not only recycle but to reduce the amount of waste we collect. After that we did an energy efficiency talk and then we inspected all the windows and doors of the church and checked their seals and working ability. We actually found that the new fire door upstairs is in need of weather stripping or something, since you can pretty much see outside cracks through three of the the four sides, and we found that one of the window panes in the 3 & 4 year old class is broken. After the energy inspection we went into the kitchen and made our own window cleaner “Flamingo Formula”, it is environmentally safe and biblically inspired. We actually have some bottles left over if any of you guys want some, just let me know.
I definitely think it was a worthwhile night, and I hope all of you that were here got pumped up about thinking about the environment that we live in and preserving it instead of just using and abusing.
Be Brilliant (all of you),
Mel

Woo hoo, Bowling was so much fun on Sunday. We went out to main event and tore it up on the lanes. You guys are pretty good. I think Casey was the high score for the day, but it might have been Aaron “I have my own bowling ball” Jones. Jonathan was hard core with the left handed bowl, and Jesse wins the award for best performance on the back nine, after he started out way slow and still broke a 100! Greg and Lindy battled their way to a tie with Greg taking the first game and Lindy taking the second. Me, I bowled the greatest game of my life a 105…. and I still came in third out of four.
See you on Wednesday for Crossover @ Taco Bell. Meet at the church at 7:00 pm, back by 8:30.

We had a lot of fun last night at Spurlock Park. Sydney, Patrick, Aaron, Chad Houy, Greg, Casey and myself went over and we spent some time talking about community. We used a ball of yarn to depict the web that our community creates. We looked at 1 Corinthians and the verses about all of us being individual parts of one body.. the body of Christ. Each of us has gifts and graces that we have been given to make our community strong. We passed the ball of yarn back and forth to each other caling out similarities and differences that connect us in our community. As we were all holding on to the string we let go of one side and saw that the entire rest of the web was affected by that one person letting go. Overall it was a great night that brough up some questions worth considering.
How strong is our community?
How welcoming is our community?
How can we reach out to others and draw them into our community?
